Úvod k tematickému číslu poskytuje ucelený přehled současného poznání o rumunských Romech, nejpočetnější romské populaci v Evropě. Autorka rekapituluje klíčová témata odborné i popularizační literatury rumunských (romských i neromských) autorů, zejména historické formy útlaku – staleté otroctví, romský holokaust a politiky komunistického režimu – a jejich dlouhodobé dopady na dnešní sociální vyloučení. Text zdůrazňuje přetrvávající strukturální anticikanismus, který se projevuje v oblasti bydlení, vzdělávání, zdraví a zaměstnanosti, a zasazuje jej do teoretických rámců kritických romských studií a politické ekonomie chudoby. Dále mapuje fenomén romské migrace a transnacionálních rodinných sítí po roce 1990, reakce evropských států na romskou mobilitu i dopady pandemie COVID-19. Významnou část tvoří také přehled současné romské umělecké tvorby, zejména divadla a literatury, která vytváří nové protiváhy stereotypům a posiluje hlas romských aktérů. Studie tak propojuje historické, sociální a kulturní perspektivy s cílem zpřístupnit komplexní portrét rumunských Romů široké odborné i laické veřejnosti.Reference
